An Interview with New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Chantal Fernando.

Bingeworthy Book Blog talks books, characters, writing and book boyfriends with bestselling author, Chantal Fernando.

Shortly after the release of her latest book, Fallen Princess (Wind Dragons 10)

Fallen Princess (Wind Dragons MC, #7)

Synopsis:

Growing up as the Princess of the Wind Dragons Motorcycle Club, Clover Black knows she’s had a thoroughly unique upbringing. As the daughter of the former President of the club, she’s expected to live a certain kind of life but she does the unthinkable…she goes to the police academy and becomes a cop. Without her family knowing.

After being assigned a new partner, the handsome Felix Banks, a friendship blossoms, but as Felix teaches her how to be a better cop, she finds herself falling for him, all while, struggling to keep her two lives separate. Tensions rise when the truth comes out and it becomes clear that Clover is being used for her motorcycle club ties.

As things heat up within the MC and at Clover’s job, she faces a difficult choice—her love for Felix and the law, or her family and the Wind Dragons. A steamy and unputdownable romance, Fallen Princess is perfect “for fans of Kristin Ashley, Julie Ann Walker, and Joanna Wylde, and those who are heartbroken that television’s Sons of Anarchy has ended” (Booklist).

Chantal Fernando surprised fans with an announcement of an all new MC Romance series coming July 1, 2019.

Saint is the first book in Chantal Fernando’s 3 book Knights of Fury MC series.

Here’s the synopsis:

Dear Skylar,

Five years. That’s a long time to go without talking to somebody, especially someone who was such a huge part of your life…

A letter from my first kiss and my childhood everything…from prison.

He may be nicknamed Saint, but this sweet, sexy biker most definitely has a wild streak. Hearing from him draws me right back into the Knights of Fury motorcycle club—the people I’ll always think of as family.

He’s still the only man I’ve ever wanted.

Each good, old-fashioned letter from my “prison pen pal” has my heart racing. Which is nothing compared to how I feel when Saint surprises me in person, as a free man.

I was just a kid the last time we saw each other, but the connection between us now is anything but innocent.

He’s the type of man who would do anything to protect his woman. And with my world crashing down around me, that’s exactly what I’m going to need.

After reading that goodness, I was practically salivating and the more that I thought about it….which was a lot, the more that I wanted to reach out and get in touch with one of my favourite authors, to touch base and find out what she’s doing and if there’s anything special that she’s working on now.

So I did. I happily chatted with Chantal Fernando and here’s what we talked about:

BB: I’m sure that I’m not the first, or the last, to ask this next question, but can readers expect any more of the Wind Dragon MC children to receive their own books?

CF: Clover’s book was the last book for the WDMC. I tried to give everyone enough Rhett and Cara in her book, instead of giving them their own.

BB: Will any more of the The Cursed Ravens MC characters be getting their own stories? I know that I for one, desperately want to see what happens with two of the male characters that caught my attention in the series.

CF: I’m actually really unsure on this one lol. I’m going to have to say maybe 😀

BB: Speaking of your characters. Of all the characters that you have created, which character (from which book) would you say that you have the most in common with or share the most traits with?

CF: All of my characters have some of me in them, whether it may be who I was, who I am, or who I want to be. I think my very first book Chase, the heroine Layla was very much like me.

BB: So I have to ask, because I’m always desperate to know, (I love your books!), is there anything that you can share with readers about what you’re working on now or any special projects that are in the works?

CF: Right now I’m working on the Knights of Fury MC book 2 and 3, Suck Me– which is a self-published book about Vampires, and my work in progress co-write with the amazing, Amo Jones.

Being an aspiring author as well as a blogger/reviewer, I had to ask Chantal a few questions about writing.

BB: What is the best piece of writing advice that you would give to aspiring authors?

CF: Never give up, and never let anyone tell you that you aren’t good enough.

BB: When a scene is giving you trouble or it’s difficult to get through, is there something in particular that you do to help work through the scene?

CF: I move on and come back to it later when inspiration hits.

BB: Your writing inspires me to work harder and smarter in creating my own work. I’m curious about who (authors or otherwise) inspires you?

CF: There are so many people that inspire me, such as my hard working author friends, my sister, and working mums. I’m inspired by people who follow their dreams, and who try and make things happen every damn day.

Next up, I had to ask one of my favourite authors these questions, not just because they’re plain fun and I really wanted to know the answers but because I’ve seen authors be asked these questions before and watched as they had to pause and really think hard about their answers.

BB: If you could live inside of any world that you or another author has created, what world would you live in and why?

CF: JR Wards, Black Dagger Brotherhood! I love that series and it has always stuck with me as one of my favourites.

BB: I’m betting that you’ve heard a number of readers claiming one of your characters as their book boyfriend. Who is your ultimate book boyfriend?

CF: Yes and it’s such a wonderful compliment to hear!

My ultimate book boyfriend is Acheron from Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter series.

BB: I can’t count the number of times that I have re-read your books. What is a book or series that you have read again and again?

CF: Thank you so much! Will have to be the Black Dagger Brotherhood books, or the Dark Hunters.

So that was the lovely little chat that I had with Chantal Fernando.

Thank you, Chantal! I always enjoy chatting with you and I’m very much looking forward to your next release, Saint, coming July 1. Pre-orders available at various retailers.

I promised readers that they’d have a surprise today, how was that? I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

And now it’s time for:

Day 4 of the 30 Day Book Blog Challenge that I’m participating in.

If you’ve been following along, you’ll know from yesterday’s post that my all time favourite series is Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling series.

While I love all of the books in the series and every book holds a special place in my heart, there is one book, one couple that hit me in the gut, the heart and the feels, every damn time.

Kiss of Snow (Psy-Changeling, #10)

Blurb:

Since the moment of her defection from the PsyNet and into the SnowDancer wolf pack, Sienna Lauren has had one weakness. Hawke. Alpha and dangerous, he compels her to madness.

Hawke is used to walking alone, having lost the woman who would’ve been his mate long ago. But Sienna fascinates the primal heart of him, even as he tells himself she is far too young to handle the wild fury of the wolf.

Then Sienna changes the rules and suddenly, there is no more distance, only the most intimate of battles between two people who were never meant to meet. Yet as they strip away each other’s secrets in a storm of raw emotion, they must also ready themselves for a far more vicious fight…

A deadly enemy is out to destroy SnowDancer, striking at everything they hold dear, but it is Sienna’s darkest secret that may yet savage the pack that is her home…and the alpha who is its heartbeat…

Why is this my favourite book in the series?

I clearly remember the first time that I read this book. The way that it effected me, the emotional journey that the characters had taken me on, the way I just didn’t want to leave the Psy-Changeling world and the Snow Dancer den.

Kiss of Snow remains to this day the only book that I have read within 24 hours and then immediately picked it back up and began reading it again.

That’s right, I read this book twice, back to back.

It was so good.

The sexual tension between the characters paired with the emotional connection, the angst and vulnerable wariness as a result of such an age gap between Hawke and Sienna. Added to that is the fact that when I first began reading this series, I had been looking forward to reading Hawke and Sienna’s book from the first book in the series, Slave to Sensation, because let’s face it, as readers of this series will know, Hawke was always going to end up with Sienna.

Their story is a beautiful story that never fails to leave with me with a smile on my face and in my heart.

I hope you’ve enjoyed the time you’ve spent here reading over my words.

Be sure to check back in again, because more good things and surprises are in the works.

Until tomorrow.

Hugs and happy reading,

From Rhianna of Bingeworthy Book Blog
